Runway Motion Capture
My goal with this project was to improve my 3D skills and get back into modeling and 3D animation. I also wanted to combine my animations with motion capture. At university, we have access to the equipment and a dedicated mocap room, which made the process even more exciting. It was a lot of fun stepping into the tracking suit and watching how the character moved along with my own motions.
For the film, I created a character walking down a runway, wrapped in a plastic bag that makes it difficult for them to move. They struggle their way to the front of the stage, trying to free themselves, but eventually turn around and walk back. The idea was to visualize the pressure of societal expectations and the feeling of being trapped when exposed to public attention.
With Runway, I successfully sharpened my 3D modeling and animation skills and learned how to integrate motion capture into my workflow. I also gained a better understanding of how time consuming rendering can be, which helped me optimize my process for future projects.
